How can I help Australian Bushfire victims?

Bushfires Australia how to help
Bushfires Australia how to help

Over the last few weeks, we received many messages from friends and family with the question if we are safe from the Australian Bushfires.

We are, as we are in Melbourne, Victoria.
The air quality here is so bad with the continuing smoke haze it’s similar to inhaling 30+sigarettes.
But we are safe.

Our beautiful country isn’t.
Several people dead and others still missing
Millions of animals dead
Millions of hectares burned
More than 1400 homes destroyed
10 million people or more breathing in toxic levels of bushfire smoke
Exhausted ( volunteer) firefighters
Thousands of people trapped in towns that need to be evacuated.Thousands of people on beaches sheltering from intense heat, ash and burning embers.

Towns we stayed in just less then 8 weeks ago are gone.
Caravanparks we made amazing memories and had the loveliest people working there are burnt to the ground. ( we are wondering how those people are doing )
We have friends that had to evacuate their home.
Families we know from the travel community that have their homes burnt down.

It’s devastating.

And it’s just the start of Summer.

Predictions are this doesn’t stop until March or April

( Volunteer ) Firefighters, Emergency services, Animal Shelters and many other people are working around the clock to help.

We felt we needed to do something too.

Personally we have donated money to the Red Cross, A full bag of goods to the Salvation Army, A full bag of clothes and we currently selling some stuff to raise a bit more money for the Australian bushfire appeal.

For businesses: Did you know donations over just $2 are tax deductable?

Even if you are not Australian, or not living here, or have nothing personally to do with Australia, your small donation can make a difference.
