When we flew back with Cathay Pacific to Australia after our trip to Europe, we had quite a long layover in Hong Kong.
We arrived very early in the morning when we flew from Amsterdam to Hong Kong and where due to fly from Hong Kong to Brisbane around midnight again.
Not an option to stay in and around the airport with a toddler and after a night in the airplane with barely any sleep, so we decided to pick an Airport Hotel in Hong Kong to get some rest before boarding our next night flight.
The Regal Hong Kong Airport Hotel was all we needed
Lucky us we choose the Regal Hong Kong Airport Hotel which is the closest ( actually attached ) to Hong Kong Airport.
When we arrived at Hong Kong Airport, we discovered Cathay Pacific lost our stroller ( after a long story, they found it – still in Amsterdam -, it got send to Australia and at the end, they handled the case very good )
But this is stuff you don’t want to deal with after a long flight with a toddler. So without any sleep, hassle around with people who had no clue where our stroller was in the first place, we went through customs and straight to the Regal Airport Hotel, which is connected to the Terminal.
This is really convenient as we didn’t have to leave the airport at all, no fussing around with transport, and just straight to our shower, bath and bed ( really all you need and desperately want after an 11-hour flight with a toddler 😉
When we arrived, the lady at the check-in desk was super friendly and efficient and we could go straight to our room, where we did exactly what we looked forward to: Bad – Shower – Bed.
Although he had a good sleep on the plane, Sem passed out straight away as he was completely worn out (lucky us) So we set our alarms to wake us up 4 hours later so we got sort of a rest, but not being completely out of our biological rhythm.
As we paid Media Rates for our stay at the Regal Hong Kong Airport Hotel, we also had some work to do ( talking to the manager – who gave us a tour around the hotel, Â shooting pictures and forming our own impression and opinion )

Is absolutely perfect for a layover in Hong Kong, business travelers, or people who want to visit the Hong Kong Asia World Expo convention center.
The Regal Hong Kong Airport Hotel is the only hotel connected directly to the passenger terminal of Hong Kong International Airport by an enclosed bridge and only takes a two-minute walk from the Hong Kong Airport terminal to the Regal Hong Kong Airport Hotel.

There are also rooms, overlooking the airport. How cool is that?!  Guests can relaxingly enjoy the runway view from the double-glazed soundproof bedroom window. Not a bad view at all right? 🙂
We were  staying in a Superior Room, with free WIFI, Satellite TV, a Bathtub ( so welcome after a long flight ) and all the other accessories you might expect from a luxury hotel, like a hair dryer, electronic safe deposit box, aircon, mini bar, in-room coffee/tea making facilities.
Dayrooms are available from 09.00 – 21.00 and are ideal if you want to refresh after a long flight and have a long layover in Hong Kong.

A big plus and very welcome after a day in Hong Kong’s heat, and very relaxed to loosen your muscles after a long flight.
There is a 22 meter long and 1.2 deep outdoor pool with sun loungers and an indoor heated pool with whirlpool available.

Haha, now we can have a laugh about it and Cathay Pacific sorted it all very good for us at the end, but it did cause some hassle and confusion! Totally agree with you, all you need after a long flight is a nice place to relax. Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong definitely made this possible for us.

Hahhahah I couldn’t imagine myself in your position. I would panic esp when you have a toddler but great because you were able to find it. Good thing also you stay at a hassle-free hotel which accommodate all your needs. A place where you can relax is all we really need after a very long exhausting day!

We just did the same thing on our way back from Frankfurt, although not as nice as this hotel! Makes it less stressful for that early morning flight out.
