Before we travelled to Hong Kong last summer, we stayed 4 nights in Brisbane at the Novotel Brisbane Hotel. A great luxury city hotel located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, with all the Brisbane attractions within walking distance.

Arriving at Novotel Brisbane

We arrived at Midnight in Brisbane after our late evening flight from Mackay. After an expensive taxi ride ( taxi prices in Brisbane are ridiculous – $50 for an 8km ride ) from Brisbane Airport to Novotel Brisbane, we got warmly and efficiently welcomed by a friendly receptionist.

As we are Le Club Accor Members we had an express check-in. Easy and Fast. ( Not that it was very busy with people checking in at 00.00 at night, but as Le Club Accor Members you will receive an email to complete your check-in before you even arrive at the hotel, so your key is ready when you arrive.

Less then 5 minutes after arrival we arrived in our room. Sem crashed straight away and we didn’t long after.

The rooms at Novotel Brisbane

There are 3 types of rooms at Novotel Brisbane:

→ Standard Room

This is the room we stayed in. Comfortable and spacious with all the necessary equipment.

Tastefully designed with warm colors and luxury finishings, great furniture, a nice workspace and chair with iPod dock, WiFi ( not free unless you sign up to be a Le Club Accor Member – which only takes you a few minutes and has some other great benefits ) and a lovely bathroom with bathtub. I mean, who doesn’t love taking baths on holidays after a long and active day out exploring.

After a good sleep in a really comfy bed, we woke up the next morning rise and shine. The room was very spacious, which is perfect for families with kids. If you have older kids who want to stay in their own room, Novotel Brisbane also have connecting rooms available.

→ Premier Room with Balcony

Like the standard room, but with a balcony, free internet, and local calls.

A real treat with separate living area, kitchenette, bathroom with a spa bath and a balcony.

Food and Beverages at Novotel Brisbane

We have only been to the Gourmet Bar, which is in the same area as the reception. We loved the stylish design and sitting on the outside veranda. Staff was very friendly and they have a great selection of Food and Wine.

The other restaurants looked great too, but we always prefer to eat somewhere outside the hotel 🙂

Novotel’s family spirit

Novotel Brisbane CBD is a perfect place to stay with kids. The rooms are spacious, they have a great kids corner, late check out up to 05.00 pm on Sundays, and a balanced kids menu in their restaurant.

Up to 2 kids under the age of 16 are staying for free in their parents or grandparent’s room. Also, their buffet breakfast is also free when taken with their parents or grandparents.

We spend quite a lot of time in Novotel’s Kids Corner the last day before we had our evening flight from Brisbane to Hong Kong. We rather stayed longer at the hotel, then in the Airport, so we went to the Airport as late as possible. There as an interactive game table, a telly, chalkboard, books, toys, and blocks.

The Kids Corner at Novotel Brisbane has an interactive game table, a telly, chalkboard, books, toys, and blocks.

Not only Sem really enjoyed himself, but Lion was determined to use all the Jenga blocks to build a massive tower, which he finished as well 😉

I chilled out with some magazines in the comfy chairs.

Other Facilities at Novotel Brisbane

There are many other facilities at Novotel Brisbane like a rooftop pool with daybeds, a fitness center, a sauna ( we must confess that the Sauna didn’t look that good ) and 2 computers with printers on the main floor next to the reception.

This last thing is ideal for printing business related stuff or your e-tickets. Novotel’s interactive system even has a feature that you can use to check in straight away at your airline.

Sustainable Development

Another great thing about Novotel Brisbane is that they are ( like the other hotels of the Accor Hotel group ) very committed to sustainable development and protecting the planet.

They participate in the Planet 21 programme, which has great goals based on a few strategic priorities: Working closely with their staff, getting hotel guests involved, innovating with partners and taking action in their local communities.

Sustainable food and buildings are 2 key priorities in this project. Examples of how Novotel Brisbane participate in this are:

  • Faucets fitted with water flow regulators
  • Water efficient laundry to reduce water consumption
  • Recovery of rainwater for green areas and toilets
  • Recycling of batteries, paper, cardboard and glass with sorting carried out at the hotel
  • Recycling of food waste for compost or energy
  • Local food products promoted in the restaurant
  • No endangered seafood to appear on our restaurant menus
  • Training for staff on responsible actions towards the environment
  • Sustainable trade products offered in the hotel
  • Eco-designed materials in the rooms
  • Certified sustainable paper for hotel printing purposes

Conclusion →  Novotel Brisbane Hotel is not only a great luxury city hotel, but by staying here you indirect also help a bit towards a better planet.

  • What a detailed review…great job! While the rooms seem like standard Novotel quality (clean and functional), the Kids Corner looks really amazing; we’d be hard pressed to decide between hanging out there or in that massive pool. The airline check-in counter would be very useful for frequent travelers.

We’re soon planning to make our way down to Australia soon (although we’ll likely need more than one trip to explore the entire country) and will keep an eye out for this one when we visit Brisbane.

  • Thank you, Vibeke! It came with our website theme, we are very happy with it too, and we got quite a few reactions from our readers about it! It gives a quick impression of the hotel and attraction ratings 🙂
Yes, we love Novotel and they are great for everyone – business – single and family travel.
    Have a lovely weekend!

  • Love that you are including the rating numbers at the top. So useful. I used to live in Brisbane for just over a year. Didn’t know about this hotel though. It looks like a very good hotel, so cool they have a kids corner. So futuristic with the interactive game table.

  • This is one brand i vouch for while traveling within my own country as it is comfortable, safe and reliable. I love the kids corner in this one – awesome photos!
