Cairns Harbour & Sunset Cruises offer a scenic Cairns half day tour spotting crocodiles and other stunning wildlife in the Cairns waterway or relax and unwind at night on one of the top ten things to do in Cairns: the Cairns Sunset Cruise. In collaboration with Cairns Harbour Sunset Cruises went out on the 1.5 hour Sunset Cruise on the M.V Crocodile Explorer, which showed us not only a different side of Cairns, but also a very scenic one.
We checked in with the super friendly staff at the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal around 17.00 for departure at 17.30. When we settled into our comfy chairs inside the vessel, we got treated by a complimentary drink and free savoury nibbles. You can choose from a wide range of non alcoholic drinks, local beer or a red, white or sparkling wine. After your complimentary drink, the bar is open during the rest of the Cairns Harbour Sunset Cruise and the prices of additional drinks on board are really reasonable!

The vessel is a cosy and small air-conditioned catamaran which seats up to 65 persons ( lucky us no mass excursion )
After finishing our first drink, we were ready to sail off into the Trinity inlet, so we moved to the outside deck with a nice glass of wine in our hand to soak up the last rays of sunshine for the day and got spoiled by beautiful views of the mountains, Cairns Harbour and the mangroves.
It was a bit cloudy, but this made a beautiful dramatic scene for our photo`s.
During the Cairns Harbour Cruise, the captain told us lots of informative stuff about what we were about to see. This went via a speaker, so even if you were standing outside, you were still able to listen to this information.
And as we all know, time flies when you re having fun, so before we knew we were sailing back in the direction of Cairns Harbour.
We only did the Sunset Cruise, and ticked off another Cairns Restaurant ( The Boat Shed ) of our bucket list, but if you want to go for the complete package ( which is pretty good value!) You can go for the Cruise & Dinner package which includes a 3 course dinner at Dundee`s Restaurant after your Sunset Cruise.

You must have been with the cable car to Kuranda!! We have been there with the Kuranda scenic railway. ( safer than the cable car ride in Cairns was my opinion haha )
